| In memory of Rocko |
| Rocko was a very special cat.... that is the least that can be said about him. It wouldn't be possible that any other cat could have given so much love and comfort to more people that he did. Many years age he was given to the Putnam County Humane Society. He was recognized as being special and it was decided not to put him up for adoption but to use him as a "Visiting Ambassador" for the PCHS instead. Every week for over 10 years he visited at least 3 nursing homes. He walked in on a harness and leash, fluffy tail waving, looking into each room to see if anyone wanted a visitor. He seemed to have a 6th sense as to who needed to be laid next to or who needed a face rub. So far it is planned to a picture of him in each nursing home. He will be included in the monthly memory service at the Waters nursing home. The PCHS plans to bury him on the premises with a small appropriate service and headstone. There will be other cats but there will never be another Rocko. He will be missed. written by Frances Washbourne |
