We wish each animal would have a forever home. But we understand
that there might sometimes be the need to re-home an animal.
Therefore, the HSPC accepts "owner surrendered" dogs and cats and
will attempt to find an appropriate home placement if possible. If you
are planning on surrendering your pet, please call us as soon as
possible.
DO NOT BRING YOUR PET TO THE SHELTER WITHOUT
CONSENT OF A SHELTER STAFF MEMBER!
There will be times when the shelter is completely full and we will not
be able to help you.
Fees:
If you have proof of residence in Putnam County, there is no surrender
fee. However, donations are always welcome.
If you do not reside in Putnam County, the following fees apply:
Dogs & Cats: $30
Litters: $20 for 1st animal, and $5 each additional animal
Special note about litters: The only way to stop pet overpopulation is to
spay or neuter your dog or cat. Upon surrendering an unwanted litter,
we will strongly urge you to alter the mother. We will be able to help
you do this at a very low or minimal cost.
