Humane Society of Putnam County
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many ways to volunteer to help the HSPC. If you would like to have 'hands
on' experience with the animals, we encourage you to come interact with both the cats
and dogs as animal socialization is an extremely important activity. Other enjoyable
activities include animal grooming, bathing, exercising the dogs and petting the cats.
Handling the cats and dogs is a great opportunity for those who are thinking about
owning a pet or who have interest in working with animals in the future.
To volunteer at the shelter, you must be 14 years old or older. Volunteers under 14
are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers are welcomed from
9-5 pm, Mon-Sat and 10-4 on Sundays.
If 'hands on' with animals isn't your desire, we need help with receptionist activities,
fund raising activities, and building maintenance and repair.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please call 765.653.5739 or stop by
during the business hours of Noon - 7pm Tuesday-Sunday.
We have an increased need for volunteers during the times DePauw students are off:
January,
Spring break
(late March/ Early April),
and
Summer Recess.
Give us a call! We're looking forward to meeting you!
